About

I began writing at Just Showing Up in 2005 to share about our Ethiopian adoption process. (We brought home twin boys in 2006.) What began as a simple way to chronicle our journey has become an outlet to keep in touch with friends, share my heart, meet dear people from all over the world, and process through my faith.

I love writing about life as a mom to seven children, adoption, homeschooling, and Catholicism. God is continually teaching me to move beyond myself, out of my comfort zone, and that there is profound beauty and spectacular joy in the mundane. (Yes, that includes the never-ending piles of laundry! But maybe not scrubbing the shower.)

I:
am an introvert,
love ethnic food,
live in an old 1912 brick bungalow (with kitchen cabinets that don't really close),
am obsessed with reading,
love to laugh,
buy most things second-hand,
could spend 24 hours a day with my husband and not get tired of him,
am afraid of the dentist,
adore reading Roman Catholic authors,
don't like whining (from adults, kids, or otherwise),
enjoy sarcasm,
hate celebrity gossip,
have two children with Down syndrome,
had three chidren ages 2 and under at one point and lived to tell about it.

I think that's it. I hope you enjoy reading along!
